COVID-19 and Cook County

What are the symptoms?

Like the cold and flu, patients with COVID-19 experience mild to severe respiratory illness. Symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath.


What can you do?

It's important to remember the simple steps we can take to help reduce the spread of coronavirus, and all communicable diseases.


Remember the three C's!


1) Clean your hands by washing properly and frequently

2) Cover your cough & sneeze

3) Contain germs by staying home


In 2017, Cook County passed an earned sick leave policy. You can review your rights on paid sick leave here.


What is happening in the State and County?

Governor JB Pritzker is hosting daily press conferences with the most up to date information about COVID-19. You can watch them online at 2:30pm here.


Please review the State of Illinois' up to date information on COVID-19 here. Currently, Governor Pritzker has issued a ban on events of over 1,000 people, events with over 250 people are strongly discouraged until May 1. All Illinois businesses that can have employees telework are being encouraged to do so, all other businesses are encouraged to develop plans to allow employees to practice social distancing. Additional restrictions are being placed on nursing homes and among other vulnerable populations. Finally, schools across the county are closing, an up to date list of school closings can be found here.
