COVID-19 Support for Small Businesses

As we continue to grapple with COVID-19 and its effects on life as we know it, Cook County is expanding relief for small businesses.

Most recently, the Biden Administration and Small Business Administration (SBA) announced a new round of Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans. There will be a 14-day window for businesses and nonprofits with fewer than 20 employees to apply.

Cook County's network of over 35 partners is available to assist small businesses.

Businesses interested in assistance completing the PPP application can sign up with the Cook County Small Business Assistance Program.

Additionally, Small businesses can sign up for one-on-one business advising services free of charge.

Cook County has partnered with Lendistry and Allies For Community Business/CRF (formerly Accion) to assist with the application process. Partner organizations will provide guidance to applicants including:

  • Understanding eligibility

  • PPP Process

  • Document collection

Businesses are also invited to apply directly for PPP funds through their local bank. The general application deadline for the PPP Loan is March 31, 2021. A complete overview of the PPP program is available in English and Spanish.
