Illinois Governor JB Pritzker extended the stay at home order this week to the end of May. Much of the order stays the same, but there are a few changes effective May 1:
Residents must wear face coverings (over nose and mouth) in a public area where social distance of six feet cannot be maintained. This means that face coverings are required in all stores and businesses. You can find out more about making face coverings here.
Nurseries/garden centers and pet-grooming services have been added to the list of essential businesses.
Non-essential retail may open to online orders and curbside pickup.
Essential businesses and manufacturers must provide their employees with face coverings if they are not able to maintain at least six feet of distance.
Some state parks will reopen. Boating and fishing in groups of two or less is permitted. You can learn more about new guidelines for state parks and Cook County Forest Preserves here.
Surgery centers and hospitals may resume elective surgeries.
