On Monday, February 28, a new mitigation order issued by the Cook Cook Department of Public Health went into effect that rescinded Order 2021-11.
Due to the substantial improvement in COVID-19 case counts, positivity rates, and hospital occupancy, the issuance of the new mitigation order lifts the vaccination requirements and masking requirements for municipalities covered by the Cook County Department of Public Health.
Masks will still be required in airports and interstate transportation by federal order.
Healthcare facilities including hospitals, clinics and long-term care facilities should continue masking in accordance with the Illinois Department of Public Health and CDC guidance.
In the event that someone is exposed to COVID-19 or is infected with COVID-19, masking and isolation continue to be recommended.
CCDPH continues to recommend masking with a well-fitting high-quality mask, such as a KN95 or N95 respirator, for those who are considered at high risk for severe COVID-19 illness when they are in public indoor spaces or other places where individuals near them may be unvaccinated.
