Meet the 14th District's new Women's Commissioner Michelle Kohler!
A long-time Northbrook resident, Michelle has been a tireless advocate in promoting women into positions of leadership at the state, township, and local levels. Most of her work has resulted in flipping elected positions, that were historically held by men, to be primarily women.
Locally, Michelle has supported the Fair Housing plan for Northbrook and pushed for the Cook County Minimum Wage - two issues with a great impact upon women. Her work on the school board included the successful implementation of a full-day kindergarten program, a STEM lab, and a push for greater tech education via the District's Learning First initiative - all areas that bring better access to well-rounded education to girls.
When she is not working on Women Commission issues, Michelle is busy as the Chief Marketing Officer at Audira Labs, a boutique leadership development firm that offers executive coaching and music-fueled workshops.
In her free time, Michelle loves to travel, cook and spend time with family. Many of her family members are musicians, so gathering (when they can happen safely) is always a good time! Michelle and her husband have raised their children, aged 16 and 11, in Northbrook and attend local Northbrook schools.
