Summer can be the hungriest time of year for kids and the most expensive time for parents, as kids and parents who rely on free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program (NLSP) no longer have access to these meals when school is out.
Enter the Summer Meals Program! Funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and administered by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), the program provides free meals to kids aged 18 and under during the summer months.
In addition to providing meals, Summer Meals sites also have activities for children. There is no fee, no sign-up, and no proof of identity or status required. Find your closest Summer Meals Program site here!
